Natalie Portman’s upcoming western flick ‘Jane Got a Gun’ seems to have been doomed from the beginning. It was originally slated for an August 2014 release, but that was pushed back six months to February 2015 after director, Lynne Ramsey, back out, as well as a number of high profile male actors including Michael Fassbender and Christian Bale.

Gavin O’Connor is now on board to direct and Ewan McGregor has been secured as the villainous gang leader character…. But according to Variety, Relativity and the Weinstein company have delayed the film’s release yet again, pushing it from February to September.

It is unclear why the production companies decided to change the release date a second time. Perhaps they have high ambitions for the picture and understand that February is the time movies go to die, while September releases get Oscar consideration?

Let’s hope this is the last major change because it’s not looking good for the film that was initially surrounded by excitement last year at Cannes.

Portman stars in ‘Jane Got a Gun’ as a woman who asks her ex-lover to aid in saving her outlaw husband from a gang attempting to kill him. Joel Edgerton plays the ex-lover, while Noah Emmerich plays Portman’s husband.
