North Korea Believes Seth Rogen and James Franco Deserve "Stern Punishment"

Seems as though Seth Rogen and James Franco aren’t making a lot of friends in North Korea. The two have caught the ire of government-controlled website Uriminzokkiri, which released a statement on Friday condemning the duo’s new film The Interview.

The statement, which was published under a pen name, denounces the film as “evil acts of provocation” that deserve “stern punishment” for it’s depiction of a comedic attempt to assassinate Kim Jong Un.

"The cheekiness to show this conspiracy movie, which is comprised of utter distortions of the truth and absurd imaginations, is an evil act of provocation against our highly dignified republic and an insult against our righteous people," it says, going on to criticize the filmmakers.

"The trashy filmmakers, who, won over by a few dollars thrown to them by conspirators, have compromised the dignity and conscience of filmmaking and dared to produce and direct such a film. They must be subject to our stern punishment."

The writer also goes on to say that they pity the U.S. for trying to “threaten the authority” of North Korea.

"How pitiful the U.S. is, desperately scrambling to tear down the authority of our republic that grows mightier by the day, with a shabby movie, now that no pressure or threat has worked."

The Interview will be released on Christmas day.
