The Love Jewce: Don't Hate the Date
It’s going to take a substantial amount of disastrous first dates and broken hearts before finding “the one”

If you’re ready to travel down the road of love and lust get ready to wear your heart on your sleeve, of course, attached to one of Michael Kors’ latest pieces from his winter collection because, as Jewish women, we’re always in style. Dating is always in style and even when you’re just not digging it, slam that shovel hard into the ground because without testing the waters how are we to know if we prefer sparkling or tonic?
Let’s start with a recent taste of tonic with a splash of, well, vodka. It’s the date that never seems to end. You’re going to a chain restaurant or a busy bar where the topic of the day is H-I-M and you seem to not exist, yet you’re sitting right there trapped in hell and as a Jew you don’t even believe in hell - that's a feat in and of itself.
When you get home from this date it’s a call to mom and scream through the phone that you’re never going to date again and you’re done with the male species.
Then months later you finally get a taste of Perrier. It’s a firm time and place and a walk up to your door, it may even be a phone call inviting you out. It’s eye contact and a door held open, punctuated by sincere demeanor and a kiss on the cheek goodnight.
The average woman will kiss fifteen men in her lifetime according to a study conducted for the paperback The Rosie Project, a novel about a man’s quest to find his perfect wife. As the saying goes you do kiss a lot of frogs before finding prince charming so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Reading more into the study though, it’s going to take a substantial amount of disastrous first dates and broken hearts before finding “the one.”
My advice, be an explorer. Go on dates with someone you’d never normally consider, be open to being set up, and just be natural and let who you are shine. If this study is correct then all of those bad dates will be worth it before you know it.
