After watching a special anchored by Diane Sawyer on ABC’s ‘Hidden America’ series, international rapping sensation, Drake, was inspired to help Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion High School, deemed “one of the most dangerous schools in America.”

According to the docu-series, Philadelphia has been struggling with major budget cuts in their education system. Strawberry Mansion High School, specifically has gone through four principals in the past four years and sees more than 10 violent acts per 100 students annually.

Last year, Linda Cliatt-Wayman, an assistant superintendent in the school’s district, stepped up as the new principal and has dedicated herself to inspiring the students, with the goal of decreasing the crime rate and increasing the graduation rate. So far, she has proven successful, doubling the graduation rate in just 12 months.

So how does Drake fit into all of this? He has announced a plan to build a recording studio inside the school to keep the kids motivated and inspired.

"In the next few months, I'm building a recording studio inside your school," Drake told the students. “This is about you, this is about your principal, this is about your future. I love you, I care about you, and I want to see you succeed."

Additionally, Drake is giving the school free tickets and transportation to his December 18th show at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
