Meet the ‘Hitler’ Puppy That Makes Children Goosestep

A UK woman’s dog has an uncanny resemblance to Adolf Hitler

You would think it impossible that an adorable little puppy could inspire any reaction beyond heart-melting and audible “oohs” and aahs”, but a little French bulldog, Shih Tzu mix in the U.K is leading a select few to goosestep.

After Lynda Whitehead posted a photo of “Patch”, her grandson’s new puppy born to her daughter’s two dogs on Facebook, the little pup’s life has been changed forever. Through no fault of his own, Patch has a dark mark on his top lip that mirrors that of Adolf Hitler’s and another large dark patch over his left ear patterned in a way that emulates the Nazi leader’s swooped hair style.

"None of us noticed the likeness until we put a photo on Facebook and my eldest daughter saw it and said 'You've got a little Hitler there'…Although he's called Patch, everybody calls him Adolf now,” Whitehead told The Telegraph.

Patch is starting to obey commands starting with the name “Adolf” or “Hitler” now, and the family has ceased calling him his originally appointed name.

Whitehead points out that Patch does not have the personality of Hitler, unlike one of his littermates.

"He is a lovely little thing. All of them are, but he is the gentlest of them all. He will sit on your lap and just look at you until he falls asleep… One of his brothers should be Hitler as he has the attitude. That one's the runt of the litter so he's had to fight a bit more."

Not only is Patch being referred to as Hitler, Whitehead’s grandkids are inspired to change their behaviour around him, imitating the goosestep.

"My grandsons are the worst for doing the goose-step when the puppy's around," Whitehead says.

Patch and his 2 littermates are being reared at Whitehead’s home until they reach 12 weeks old. Hopefully at that point, he will be adopted to a family that chooses not to mock both him and the actions of the Nazi party.
