Jake Gyllenhaal Cast as Crime Reporter in ‘Nightcrawler’

The ‘End of Watch’ actor will star in Dan Gilroy’s directorial debut.

Dan Gilroy, who recently co-wrote ‘The Bourne Legacy’ with brother Tony, plans to make his directorial debut with ‘Nightcrawler’.

Jake Gyllenhaal will star as a freelance L.A crime reporter alongside Rene Russo, who also happens to be Gilroy’s wife in real life. Specific plot information has not yet been released.

Tony Gilroy and Jennifer Fox, who recently produced ‘Michael Clayton’, ‘Duplicity’, and the ‘Bourne’ series plan to co-produce ‘Nightcrawler’ with Gyllenhaal. Michel Litvak and David Lancaster will also produce, along with executive producer Gary Michael Walters.

The Gilroy’s have a third brother, John, who will edit the project.

Gyllenhaal can next be seen in ‘Nailed’, ‘An Enemy’, and ‘Prisoners’.
