‘Hunger Games’ Star, Elizabeth Banks, to Receive CinemaCon Award

‘Hunger Games’ star, Elizabeth Banks, will be honored at this year’s CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas with an Excellence in Acting award.

Banks will return to the big screen in ‘Hunger Games’ sequel, ‘Catching Fire,’ as Effie Trinkett this November.

“One of Hollywood’s most versatile actresses, Elizabeth Banks has captured movie going audiences’ attention across the globe with her spot-on portrayals of a diverse array of characters,” said CinemaCon’s Managing Director, Mitch Neuhauser.

“From First Lady Laura Bush in W., to the highly fashionable and eccentric Capitol Escort Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games, Banks embraces each role unlike no other actress out there. We are thrilled to be able to honor her this year with the ‘CinemaCon Award for Excellence in Acting,’” he continued.

Banks was also seen recently in ‘Pitch Perfect’ and ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting,’ and has appeared in a number of Judd Apatow-associated flicks including ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’ and ‘The 40-Year Old Virgin.’ She also has a recurring role on ’30 Rock’ as Alec Baldwin’s wife, Avery Jessup.

Banks will receive the award at CinemaCon’s final night gala, held on April 18th.
