First Shia LaBeouf decided to abandon the ‘Transformers’ franchise. Then he goes completely nude for an artsy Sigur Ros music video. Then he joins Lars von Trier’s newest flick ‘Nymphomaniac’ where he intends to have real sex on camera. And now, the former Disney Channel child star plans to kidnap Alec Baldwin?

All four of the above statements are true. Thankfully, the latest news is merely the plot of an upcoming Broadway play in which LaBeouf has been cast.

According to Variety, LaBeouf has joined ‘Orphans’, a re-working of Lyle Kessler’s 1983 play. He will play the character of Treat, the older of two orphans who kidnaps a wealthy man, played by Alec Baldwin.

‘Orphans’, directed by Daniel Sullivan, will go into previews on March 19, 2013 and is scheduled to open on April 7th, 2013 at New York City’s Schoenfeld Theater.

LaBeouf joins a list of several fellow Hollywood film stars who are turning to Broadway including Al Pacino, ‘Lawless’ co-star Jessica Chastain, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, and Katie Holmes.
