Chelsea Handler to Produce New NBC Comedy Starring Ingrid Haas
Chelsea Handler’s production company, Borderline Amazing, has sold a comedy project to NBC, created by and starring Ingrid Haas.
Ingrid Haas, born and raised in Toronto, is a classically trained actress. Before switching her focus to comedy, Haas performed Shakespearean theater. She currently lives in Los Angeles where she performs regularly at the UCB theater, contributes to HelloGiggles.com, and helped with Michael Kosta’s Comedy Central pilot and Craig Robinson’s VH1 pilot.
According to Deadline, the new show is “based on Haas’ real life, the relationship comedy centers around a father and daughter. When Ingrid’s parents come to visit her in Los Angeles, she accidentally breaks up their marriage, forcing Ingrid’s dad, Wayne, to move in with her and her roommate in their Melrose Place-style apartment building.”
Chelsea Handler, Tom Brunelle, and Brad Wollack will Executive produce and supervise Haas’ script.
Universal TV will be producing the project, stemming from the overall deal Handler made with E! last year, including a first-look pact for Borderline Amazing with NBC Universal.
Borderline Amazing Productions currently produces Chelsea Lately and After lately, and was behind NBC’s now-cancelled sit-com Are You There, Chelsea?
