‘Father’s Day’, the latest book from ‘Friday Night Lights’ author, Buzz Bissinger will be adapted for the big screen by ‘Battleship’ director (and Bissinger’s cousin), Peter Berg.

Bissinger’s previous novel, ‘Friday Night Lights’ following a Texas high school football team (also directed by Berg), was adapted to screen in 2004 starring Billy Bob Thorton, and later turned into a popular NBC series. Bissinger also penned two other sports-related books including ‘Shooting Stars’ co-written by LeBron James, and ‘3 Nights in August’ on baseball management.

‘Father’s Day’ follows the relationship between Bissinger and his twins, one of which has intellectual handicaps. The novel centers around a summer road trip taken by father and son, and the personal journey Bissinger took in order to get a better understanding of his son.

Berg also has his eyes on another book adaptation, ‘Lone Survivor”, a Navy SEAL drama starring Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch and Ben Foster.
