Mayim Bialik & The Maccabeats Raise Money for Charity

Mayim Bialik- actress, neuroscientist and self-admitted #1 Maccabeats fan- has teamed up with Yeshiva University singing sensation to raise money for the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation.

Last December, The Maccabeats attracted over 6 million views to their Chanukah-themed music video “Candlelight”, set to the tune of Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite”. This holiday season, the group released a cover version of Matisyahu’s “Miracle”, with a special cameo appearance by Bialik.

The Maccabeats are hoping that they can perform a “Miracle” by raising $80,000 ($10,000 for every night of Chanukah) to help find donor matches for people who need transplants.

Mayim Bialik was thrilled to not only appear in The Maccabeats new music video, but also to join them in this cause.

In her blog, she wrote, "I believe in the world seeing a new kind of Orthodoxy through groups like The Maccabeats."

"Being a part of a video by a group that I respect and adore is sort of insanely surreal; I feel like the girl in the Dancing in the Dark Bruce Springsteen video who's pulled up on stage to dance with him during the concert - except The Maccabeats can't touch me to pull me up on stage, can't watch a woman dance, and would never wear a red bandana around their kippah-adorned heads," Bialik continues.
