James Franco to Make Broadway Debut in ‘Of Mice and Men’

Franco will be joined by ‘Bridesmaids’ star, Chris O’Dowd

Actor/Director/Artist/Author/Poet/Professor/Know-it-all, James Franco, is set to make his Broadway debut is an upcoming production of John Steinbeck’s ‘Of Mice and Men’.

Franco and ‘Bridesmaids’ star, Chris O’Dowd, will star as two displaced migrant ranchers who desperately seek work during the Great Depression. Steinbeck’s classic 1937 novel takes the men on a journey traveling throughout California moving from job to job.

Franco will take on the role of the quick-witted, highly ambitious George Milton, while O’Dowd will portray Lennie Small, a physically strong man with learning disabilities. Their close friendship encourages them both to persevere and dream of a better future.

‘Of Mice and Men’ originally ran on Broadway for seven months from 1937-38, and was once revived during the 1974-75 season. Tony Award-winning director, Anna D. Shapiro (‘August: Osage County’) is confirmed to direct.
