As Daniel Shamah of Times of Israel reports, Apple has increased its already strong ties to Israel and Israel’s blossoming tech culture. For its new California headquarters, which will open sometime in 2016, Apple has employed the Israeli company Dip-Tech to produce the glass pieces for what is officially called “Apple Campus 2” but has been nicknamed “the spaceship” for its circular, futuristic appearance. Steve Jobs conceived the idea for the new headquarters over a decade ago.

Apple Campus 2 will, as Shamah reports, “feature huge panes of curved glass, as high as 60 feet (18 meters), some of it printed.”

Max Perilstein, the world’s most prominent expert in glass production, asserts that only Dip-Tech possesses the advanced glass-printing tech to produce what Apple’s innovative architectural project required. As he told the Times of Israel, “Dip-Tech is to the world of glass what Apple is to the world of computers and devices.”

The “rapidly rising” building is set to be quite the architectural innovation. As Yariv Matzliach, the CEO of Dip-Tech told the Times of Israel, “the technology revolution in glass printing enables architects and designers to expand their creativity. The projects being undertaken today are breaking the boundaries of what was possible until now, as new techniques of glass production are have become available.”

Dip-Tech’s glass can also be seen in both the the facade of Harlem Hospital in New York and in Chicago O’Hare International Airport’s recently reconstructed terminal 5.
