A new report from Israeli financial daily The Calcalist claims that international animation giant Walt Disney Studios is considering producing a new animated city in the holy city of Jerusalem.

Calcalist claims that Disney is working in conjunction with Israel's Snowball Studios, who confirmed their application for a tender with the Jerusalem Film and Television Fund in order to receive better tax conditions.

Snowball Studios, Israel's largest animation studio, did not confirm, however, Disney's involvement.

“We need to expand and are deciding whether we do it in Israel, in Jerusalem, or expanding the front office in Toronto to a full production facility,” explained the Studio's founder and general manager Yoni Cohen.

If approved, the tender would give the studio a 35% rebate on labor costs, claims the Calcalist, cited by the Jerusalem Post, noting that Snowball was "already working" with Disney, but at a loss.

Winning the tender “would enable us to build our next branch in Jerusalem and keep the brains form leaving Israel,” added Cohen.

Furthermore, it would lead to a NIS 5 million ($1.3 million US) investment from the Walt Disney Company to produce animation for a new series, which would be based from the Israeli capital.

If the series would be picked up by American television, it could lead to NIS 8 million, or even ten million, funding from Disney to continue the brand.

You know what would be awesome? If they brought Hugo back, especially now that rebooting franchises is all the rage these days. He was awesome.
