While shopping in the Netherlands, an Israeli customer at Ralph Lauren found an unsettling error on his duty free slip: his address, in the Tel Aviv suburb of Bnei Brak, was listed as being in the Palestinian Territories.

The shopper was quick to contact the Jewish consumer defense organization GEODKOSJER, who then reached out directly to Ralph Lauren, asking if the message was “a kind of boycott of Israel, not to name it an instead identifying it as a ‘Palestinian Territory’?”

The letter sent to Lauren by Dr. Henru Rosenberg, president of GEODKOSJER, went on to state: “We understand that by acting like this your Factory Store wants to make a political statement, which is totally unacceptable to our member.”

The Ralph Lauren headquarters in New York has yet to release a comment in response to this complaint.
