No, McDonald's is Not Funding the IDF

"McDonald’s does NOT channel any sales, profits or franchise fees from our restaurants to support ANY political causes or conflicts in any part of the world"

Thanks to a plethora of Internet allegations from a network of anti-Israel Malaysian Internet users, the McDonald’s corporation is now suspected to be "funneling" money directly into the Israeli army.

Or, at least, only in Malaysia.

The allegations, as reported by Malaysia Digest, call for a boycott of the fast food chain for a single day. Why McDonald's would fund the IDF, we haven't the faintest, but, McDonald's, just to make sure, have released an official statement to let everyone in Malaysia - a country that has had its share of anti-Semitic problems - know that these allegations are entirely false, via a status on its Facebook page:

“We wish to reiterate that McDonald’s does NOT channel any sales, profits or franchise fees from our restaurants to support ANY political causes or conflicts in any part of the world. There is absolutely no truth in any online allegations suggesting otherwise. Our core values dictate that we operate our business ethically and to the highest standards. This is a value that we uphold with utmost conviction. In Malaysia, we are proud to be part of the local community – providing opportunities for local franchisees and careers for 12,000 Malaysians, serving our customers with passion and respect, and actively supporting meaningful causes to enhance the lives of the needy.”

However, this statement has yet to deter those fierce anti-Zionists who are always looking for a demonstration, and there is now a flyer being spread around social media that reads “Boycotting McDonald’s Day!!! It starts on 8th August 2014 from 7am to 7pm and the campaign will continue until the Zionist regime in Palestine is entirely wiped out.”

While there are many arguable reasons to boycott McDonald’s, political funding in any cause is not on the list. Good luck explaining that to anti-Israel supporters in Malaysia though.
