Business: Replay Technologies

Based Out Of: Tel Aviv (with offices in Dallas and Newark)

Entrepreneur: Aviv Shapira, Matteo Shapira, Oren Haimovitch-Yogev

Industry: 3D Technology

A few weeks ago, we reported on an Israeli-based technology company that would power this year's forthcoming NBA All Star Game with their immersive 'FreeD' (free dimension) technology.

The result, as many have already noted, looks like something straight out of the Matrix. Imagine a scenario like this, but instead of Keanu dodging bullets, you'll actually be able to witness DeMar DeRozan's spectacular dunk over Kevin Durant. I can dream, can't I?

Coincidentally, the company refers to such high-speed, advanced footage as 'bullet time,' named in Neo's honour, of course.

As NBC Sunday Night Football producer Fred Gaudelli said, “Fans will think they’re playing a video game or watching a Sci-Fi movie, but they’ll actually be viewing real NFL football as never presented before."

Shalom Life had a chance to catch up with co-founder and COO of Replay Technologies, Aviv Shapira who, alongside his brother Matteo, and Oren Haimovitch-Yogev (CEO), came up with the idea while watching a Manchester United match in London. “I want to see what the game looks like from the perspective of the ball,” Shapira said.

This is what got the proverbial ball in motion.

"Our company is now two years old, and we've recently expanded to include ten employees," Shapira tells me. "We've worked in some of the largest arenas in sports, from the London Olympics to New York Yankees baseball, Dallas Cowboys football, and of course, our most recent project, the NBA All Star Game."
