Wake Up Late Alarm ClockPic: LARK

Once again Apple's iPhone alarm causes havoc: January 1st, 2011 will be remembered as another gloomy day for Apple as scores of people all around the world reported of a mysterious bug which tempered with the iPhone's alarm clock function. Many iPhone wielders shed their frustrations of waking up late (after relying solely on the iPhone) upon Apples support forum and on Twitter.

According to the online iPhone community, the reason behind the annoying and repetitive bug (same problem occurred when changing to daylight saving time) is the transition from 2010 to 2011. For an unknown reason, devices which run on iOS (iPhone Operating System) version 4.2.1, 4.1 and 4.0.2, had some problem with the shift to the new year. As a result, users who set up a manual alert, did not wake up, whereas users who relied on a scheduled daily alarm were not affected by the bug.

So far, Apple has not responded to the reports and the complaints, thus they have not issued any solution for the problem. However, according to some iPhone enthusiasts who tested the bug on several devices, the problem should be solved by itself from January 3rd. So, Apple probably will not even try to solve it.

Moreover, one can remember a similar bug which occurred a couple of months ago. In many countries across the world and especially in Britain, Australia and New Zealand, the switch to DST screwed up the iPhones alarm and as a result many people woke up either one hour early or one hour late.

Many iPhone users were surprised to see the same problem repeat itself and called for Apple to "get a calender already", as one user announced on Twitter. Others complained about being late to work, missing their meetings or just being fed up with Apple and the fact that they will not see any compensation at all.
